We process personal data with transparency, accountability and respect for your rights.

Bower Offshore AS takes privacy seriously. This statement explains what personal data we process, why we do so, how it is used, and what rights you have. It applies to customers, suppliers, partners, employees, seafarers, job applicants and others who are in contact with us.

Who is responsible?

Bower Offshore AS (formerly Zosco Norway AS), org. no. 937 096 275, is the data controller for the personal data we collect and use. Management holds overall responsibility for privacy within the organisation. Questions can be directed to us at personvern@bower.no.

What data do we process?

Depending on your relationship with us, we may process:

  • Contact and customer information: name, position, email, phone, company.
  • Information about employees and seafarers: contact details, position, payroll and HR information, certificates and qualifications, medical certificates related to shipboard service, and next-of-kin contact information.
  • Information about job applicants: CV, application, references and testimonials.
  • Website usage: information about your visit via cookies for analytics and marketing, where you have given consent. See our separate cookie page.

Why and on what legal basis?

We process data to deliver and follow up on services and contracts, to crew and operate vessels in accordance with maritime requirements, for recruitment, and to fulfil legal obligations. The legal basis is typically contract, legal obligation or legitimate interest. Health information about seafarers is only processed where necessary and permitted under regulations governing safe operations.

Analytics and marketing

On our website we use analytics and marketing tools from third parties, including Google, Meta and LinkedIn. These are only activated when you have given consent through the consent banner, and are used to measure website usage and the effectiveness of our advertising. Some of these providers process data outside the EEA; transfers are then made on a lawful basis, for example the EU's standard contractual clauses. You may withdraw your consent at any time. Read more on the cookie page.

Sharing and transfers

We share personal data with data processors that provide systems for operations, crewing and recruitment, and with public authorities where we are required to do so.

Retention periods

We store personal data for as long as necessary for the purpose, or for as long as we are required to retain it by law.

Your rights

Under privacy legislation (GDPR), you have, among other things:

  • Right of access: you may request to see what data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: you may request that incorrect data be corrected.
  • Right to erasure: in certain cases you may request that data be deleted.
  • Right to data portability: in some cases you may receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to lodge a complaint: you may complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) if you believe we are processing data in breach of the regulations.

We respond to requests within the deadlines required by law.

Updates to this statement

We review this statement at least once a year, and more frequently when there are changes to legislation, technology or services. Changes that affect how we process personal data will be communicated clearly.
