Bower Offshore sets a new standard for demanding offshore operations
03.07.2026

Since the early beginning in 1899, Remøy Shipping grew from small open fishing boats into one of the most experienced offshore shipping companies in the North Sea. One of the first covered vessels brought to Remøya was the remodelled sailing vessel Historia, acquired in 1899 by Knut Hansen Remøy.

In 1915, Knut took delivery of the new vessel Brødrene V, with his sons Hans, Olav and Joakim already part of the operation. In 1925 they added the 55-foot cutter Vikenes, used primarily for whaling. By the 1950s, a third generation had joined, expanding the fleet and the business. In 1961, the vessel Stormy was launched — fishing for shark, swordfish, and tuna off the coast of Africa, and porbeagle off Newfoundland.
During the 1980s, the company moved into the oil business with standby and seismic vessels, establishing the offshore identity that defines Bower today.

The company evolved through several splits and restructurings across the 1990s and 2000s, with ownership held by Steinarbo AS and Stokkanker AS. Through each transition, the operational heritage — and the people who carried it — remained the constant.

In February 2026, Remøy Group AS completed the sale of Remøy Shipping — including Remøy Shipping AS, Rem Stadt AS, and RS Crewing AS — to ZOSCO, Zamil Offshore Services Company. The transaction brought new capital, new global reach, and a new platform for long-term growth.
ZOSCO is the leading provider of offshore services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a history in the industry dating to 1977. Their core business spans offshore marine and diving services, offshore construction, and port towage and pilotage.
The acquisition marks more than a change of ownership. It marks the beginning of a new chapter. Built on more than a century of North Sea operational experience, and backed by the resources and industrial expertise of a global partner, the company relaunches as Bower.
Bower carries the history forward — and sets its own standard for what comes next. For customers, employees, and partners, this means increased capacity, a broader service offering, and reinforced stability. For the offshore energy market, it means a new operator built to lead it.
